What is emotion?
Currently, there are many definitions about the concept of emotion, however, still today the term is still somewhat vague and imprecise, mainly due to the number of senses involved. For centuries, the emotion has been defined as an agitation of mind accompanied by strong shocks in the somatic field, this definition reduces specific emotion and emotional response to mere physiological changes.
Today has come to be understood by emotion, a state of emotional disturbance, usually caused by a situation that may be threatening, frustrating, or simply trigger for the subject, and is manifested in different ways.
Expressions of emotion
The emotional response, usually manifests itself at three levels: behavioral or motor, physiological and cognitive development. To understand these three ways to express an emotional response, we think the following situation: A person is quietly taking a walk and sees a snake in your path, to which the person may feel fear or aversion. The most common is the person think “can be poisonous” (cognitive response), your heart race with fear (physiological response) and flee the place in haste (motor response).
