Main causes of stress
The causes of stress have changed dramatically throughout history. Civilizations have created new pressures to test the ability to survive. Often people are confronted continually with situations that excite the body unconsciously, storing energy that then not used.
The physical pressure can build up and eventually can lead to exhaustion and disease.
Stress builds up through emotions such as aggression, impatience, anger, anxiety and fear, emotions that trigger the body’s reaction to stress. An unhealthy diet, the snuff, alcohol and drugs also can help increase physical stress.
Stress can arise from situations at work, at home, in relationships, may be the result of internal emotional conflicts, environment, diet, ill health, economic hardship and certain important situations in the a human life: births, deaths, marriage or divorce.
The causes can be classified as follows:
Physiological: These causes are related to diseases and injuries of the body that increase the tension within a person causing a stress level that it becomes counterproductive to oneself. Emotional Stress I
Emotional stress usually occurs in situations that are difficult or unable to different people consider different situations as stressful.
Physical stress refers to the body’s physical reaction to various triggers, such as pain experienced after surgery. Physical stress often leads to emotional stress and the latter often presented as physical discomfort (eg, stomach cramps).
Stress management involves controlling and reducing the tension that occurs in stressful situations by making emotional and physical changes. The degree of stress and desire for change will determine the level of change that takes place.
The attitude of an individual can influence a situation or emotion is stressful or not. A person with a negative attitude will often report more stress than would someone with a positive attitude.
Physical well-being: A poor diet puts the body in a state of physical stress and weakens the immune system. As a result, the person may be more susceptible to infections.
A poor diet can mean unhealthy food choices, inadequate food or not eating at regular times, which can lead to the person does not get enough nutrients.
This form of physical stress also decreases the ability to cope with emotional stress as the failure to obtain adequate nutrition affects how the brain processes information.
Physical activity, insufficient physical activity can be a stressful state for the body. Physical activity has many benefits. A program of regular physical activity can help decrease depression, if any, as well as enhance the feeling of wellbeing.
Support systems: Most people need someone in their life they can rely on a difficult time. Having little or no support makes stressful situations even more difficult to handle.
Relaxation: People with no outside interests, hobbies or ways to relax may be unable to handle stressful situations because they have no outlet for their stress.
